The Trait and Pipeline Delivery (TPD) organization plays a foundational role in achieving the vision of Global Plant Breeding to improve lives through better harvests. We enable the largest, most robust plant breeding pipeline in the world through the creation of new germplasm, integration of traits to create products, and delivery of seed for all stages of the R&D pipeline to support testing. TPD leverages a global footprint and innovation in key initiatives, including protected culture, prescriptive planning and nursery design, and commitment to culture and leveraging diversity, to continue to build towards the future of plant breeding. The Planning and Logistics team will be focused on developing the global supply and demand planning and logistics for breeding operations and ensuring optimization of resources across testing, seed production, and molecular breeding. We are seeking an individual to lead our newly created Planning and Logistics team. This position will be responsible for developing, communicating, and executing the end-to-end product demand and supply plans across all breeding globally. This role will also lead the execution of critical operations required to enable testing and seed production across diverse workflows and regional complexity. The successful candidate will drive optimization of the planning process, leverage data insights, and accelerate new tool deployment. K ey Responsibilities:
Thought leader in developing end-to-end demand planning solutions as well as managing project execution. Strategic thinking, connecting outcomes to the broader business perspective, as well as being comfortable in the details of the deliverables will be key to success.
Lead global supply and demand planning for breeding operations: develop 2-3 year view of resource needs (units of work) across breeding regions and other R&D partners; deliver and execute against detailed annual plan to include allocation of work units by location, experimental design & set up, and sourcing of seed; ensure optimization of resources across testing, seed production, and molecular breeding.
Develop a strategy to leverage advanced analytics, such as Operations Research (OR) for planning design to drive a predictive, reliable pipeline of products to meet market demand.
Develop and maintain crop cycle timelines. Ensure process standardization and accuracy.
Implement new technology in IT and analytics globally; partner with Analytics IT to co-develop strategy for automation of planning and placement.
Partner with regional breeding teams to understand and operationalize breeding strategies, pipeline schemes and long range plan. Co-develop processes to capture this information and ensure alignment with resource availability at the global breeding and R&D level.
Identify best practices and tools externally and apply insights to internal processes.
Develop people and teams in alignment with Global Breeding values and vision.
Co-develop Trait and Pipeline Delivery strategy.
